FF7/Technical/Customising

Step 2: Open Bootleg040.zip and extract here: C: Games FF7Mods

Step 3: Within the extracted folder, set Bootleg.exe to run as Administrator:

Right-Click on Bootleg.exe

Select Properties

Go to the Compatibility Tab

Check Run this program as an administrator

Click Apply, then OK.

Next, open BFE.exe to start up Bootleg Configurator.

Step 4: Select your mods.

You can automatically setup your mods by clicking on Presets in the menu bar and selecting one.

You can manually setup your mods by using a check-box or drop-down menu.

You can load my settings EQ2Alyza from the torrent in STEP 7.

I m confused. What do some of these mods do.

Tifa s Package: Mod Details for Bootleg Configurator

Step 5: Now click on the menu bar File -- Mod List or the blue button labeled Mod Listing to the right.

Step 6: You will see a big list with all the mods supported for Bootleg. Each mod shows a brief description of its use underneath, along with a download link to the right.

What do the colors mean.

GREEN

These are the mod files that you have downloaded and placed properly into your Installation Tab -- Mod Source folder.

YELLOW

These are the mod files not required for your configuration.

RED

These are the mod files required for your configuration. Do not press Run Bootleg if you have any mods in red.

Step 7: START DOWNLOADING EVERY MOD COLORED IN RED. FOR MOD DETAILS BROKEN LINKS. USE THIS LIST:

OR

DOWNLOAD THE TORRENT, WHICH CONTAINS EVERY COMPATIBLE MOD:

TIP: Place your downloaded mods into the same folder as Bootleg: C: Games FF7Mods

Some mods have more than one different listings. Which should I use.

Choose one of them. You don t need both. Just make sure to download all the parts for whichever listing you choose.

FacePalmer Example

I have downloaded all the mods, but they still show as red. What s wrong.

The Installation tab isn t configured correctly.

Point Destination Location to the game s main installation folder.

Point Mod Source to the folder with the downloaded mods.

Point Bootleg.exe Location to the folder with the Bootleg files.

Point Temporary Files to anywhere you wish. The default location given is fine.

My Setup

Step 8: Once you have downloaded all the red colored files, your mod list should be entirely yellow and green. Now you are ready to install.

IMPORTANT: Disable any Anit-Virus and Firewall software, and close any Internet Browser before continuing.

Click the red button labeled Run Bootleg to the right.

Step 9: Almost done.

The first window that will pop-up will be the Final Fantasy VII Configuration v1.02.

Click the Graphics Tab to enable Aali s Custom Graphics Driver.

Next, click the Sound Tab and select your primary sound device under the drop-down menu.

Leaving this blank will cause the game unable to start.

When installing Gjoerulv s Hardcore Mod, click Pick install folder first. Then click the big PATCH button, wait for 100 complete, then click Close.

Always select Original 1997 even if you are using the Re-release 2012.

When installing Menu Overhaul, there may be a few text documents that pop up which will give error reports.

These are normal and can be ignored.

When installing FF7Music, PSF is the original Playstation music and OSTRemastered is the Playstation score reworked with more modern instrumentation.

After installing, uncheck Run FF7 and click Finish.

Step 10: Configuring Bootloader

Here are some previews for it:

To pass the CD check, click the Mount button. Once a drive letter is assigned for FF7DISC1, use the drop-down menu for Data Drive and select it.

To get rid of this virtual drive, click Unmount or restart your computer.

TIPS:

Complex Shaders currently only work for Radeon Graphics cards.

I recommend two resolutions: 1920x1080 FullScreen or 1280x720 Windowed

Break Limit 9999 does NOT need to be checked if installed within the Overhaul Tab of Bootleg.

I personally always keep Preserve Aspect and VSync checked to prevent obscure stretching and tearing.

Postprocessing, Max Lights, and Post-processing Shader work in congruent with each other. They do NOT work when playing in Windowed mode.

What do I do if something appears broken.

Report it here. Give us as much detail as possible along with a posting of your app.log file.

I will also update the bug reports below, so make sure to read everything.

Most of the mods now have Google docs links.

Check out The Big List of FF7 Mods.

Many of the Rapidshare links expired due to lack of downloads.

I m slowly mirroring everything on Fileden.

Pejeeshare has a high rate of failure.  It s frustrating to have to upload files again and again.

Thanks for the info PitBrat.

I have got all of the mod files I need, and installed through bootlegger, but now I have a whole different problem.

No sound in menu s, Battle SFX or in FMV s

I read in a thread about this problem that a reinstall might work - although I am inclined to believe it could be a mod causing the problem

Just to clarify - I don t have to install any patches after a fresh install of FFVII do i. Just a clean out of the box installation, then the bootlegger mods by following this tutorial.

Last Edit: 2012-08-13 :31 by Scope

Configure the sound driver in ff7config.exe.

Run FF7Config.exe as administrator.

Go to the SOUND tab.

Select the correct sound card.

Click OK to save and exit.

Q:Why is there no sound in the game.  Why is the music playing from a different sound device than the game sounds.

A:You need to configure the sound and/or MIDI device.

  Run. FF7Config.exe as Administrator

In the SOUND tab, select the Sound Driver

In the MIDI tab, select the MIDI Driver and the MIDI Data

Click OK to save the settings

  Open the Volume Mixer

Adjust the volume for the playback device, applications and FF7 executable

Thanks

I had no idea there was this many mods - the torrent is HUGE.

I have been downloading a lot of these mods overnight individually, I just had to brave mediafire s ridiculous throttling.

3-4 more files to go and I am good to go

We ve all been there and done that  Once it s over with, you never have to do it again.

Thanks again Pit, I will try this out asap as I already started a fresh install before I saw your post.

I did set up the Sound Driver but didn t even look at MIDI as it was not in the Tutorial in the first post

Hopefully I will actually get to play FF7 some time today.

Hi everyone,

First of all I d like to say how amazed I am by how beautiful you guys have made the now outdated though still brilliant FFVII look. Thank you for putting so much effort in to this.

I myself own the original FFVII for psx and I just downloaded the new version on the Square Enix Store.

On the first page of this topic EQ2Alyza mentions that it isn t clear yet if the bootleg/mods work on this new version. Seeing how that post is 2 months old I was wondering if someone can tell me if it s now known whether the bootleg/mods work on the new version,

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but I couldn t find it plus I m new to this forum.

Thanks in advance

Sebuzzie

Bootleg is currently not going to work for the re-release version. You will have to manage installing what you want individually and manually. Check for updates in this post: 13424.0

It will take some time to catch up, but don t stress over it. Learn and enjoy what you read. It is actually pretty fun to see how it s all done

Thanks for the quick reply.

So, correct me if I m wrong, I can install the mods I find here, I just can t use the bootleg.

That would be awesome. I ll do the research on this forum and keep you updated.

Yeah I now see that this question has been popping up everywhere on this forum. Thanks for helping me though.

I just created backups and I m now going to try to install the Unified Model Installer and Anxious Hearts mods. Hope that it s not a problem that I installed it on E.

I ll keep you updated and hope one day I can return the favor.

Edit: UMI gave an error message that the game isn t installed correctly. So I m now just reinstalling it on C:

A few mistakes here:Autosize Action Box

I have yet to recognize what this does.

It resizes the box at the top of the screen in battle to fit the text.  Thus the box is smaller for Cure than it is for Steel Bladed Sword.

Invincible

                                               Main character cannot be hurt.

Should read characters

Lucky Cait

Takes out Death Joker from the Slots I think..

No.  This is a mod by Dziugo. It allows you to take complete control of the slots.  I forget which keys do what, but you can advance to each reel after selecting manually with the use of Left and Right.  In other words, you can have ANY combination you want with Cait s reels.Canon Names

Uses original names. Example: Marlene Marin

Other way around  Marin Marlene.  Marlene is so-called canon.

Thanks DLPB, I ll fix them tomorrow. Too tired tonight and heading to bed.

Hello. Um.. I need some help on Bootleg. The timer/ratings/countdown doesn t really shows up completely. It s just shows the top of the clock. But whenever I install it with the Retranslation, there s no problem with it. Just when I only unckeck the Retranslation.

What  language are you using.

Are you installing a North American English version of FF7.

Are you using the translation option in Bootleg.

Dbloiterer

First of all, I would just like to thank everyone involved in this modding community for all their hard work. Replaying FFVII with these added bonuses has been a much needed distraction as I am in the middle of transitioning between jobs. You all are probably doing more for other people than you know, even if it is just a game.

I am having one issue though and I have waited a bit before asking so I could browse the forums for answers; this turned out to be wise, because that one issue used to be more than one. I am using the Timu Barret Kleyon field which looks great for the most part except for his face in battle

Not sure what is going on there haha.

Anyway, I was wondering, if I decide I want to change an individual mod, is that safe to do after having applied bootleg. Like for instance, if I decided I didn t want to play with the Cloud model I originally chose in bootleg and wanted to use a different one just an example. I don t have to run bootleg all over again for a small change like that, do I.

Forgive my ignorance here. A lot of stuff I read on here is really beyond me, though I try my best to soak it in. Thank you for your time though.

Dbloiterer,

The Timu Sumisu Kleyon Barret face texture problem is a bug in Bootleg 0039.

I fixed it for 040.  Thanks for the heads up. . .

You can re-run Bootleg as long as you don t try to alter Menu Overhaul or any of the modes like Hardcore, Aeris Revival or Lost Wing.

If you re just changing models, you can also use the UMI model installer:

UMI.exe                                         DLPB More     Unified Model Installer U003            Qhimm FILE

Remember that, in Bootleg 0039, Grimmy s AC Yuffie and Tifa models are broken.

Thanks again for helping me improve the Bootleg project.

What  language are you using.

I m using English version of FF7. Translation option, you mean the translate text. I left it No change for the Translate Text. Did I made a mistake there.

I m gonna update this over the weekend to include a tutorial for converting FF7 2012 to FF7 1998 for use with Bootleg.

PitBrat Any ETA on Bootleg 0040.

I m still waiting on the ULGP tool.  The current version doesn t update archives consistently.

If I go back to the old way of building the entire archive from a folder, it adds about 10 minutes to the Bootleg running time.

Meanwhile, I m adding all the mods that just came out: New APZ Cloud, FMV Cloud and coin skill textures.

I m still waiting on the ULGP tool.  The current version doesn t update archives consistently.

Is there a possibility for this to be an option once things get ironed out.  Something for people to attempt if they seem to keep getting weird errors with the faster method.

Just a thought.  Looking forward to the new release either way.

Thank you for sharing all the models

Thank you for the response, kind sir.

When you say FMV Cloud, do you mean this one. 13489.0

I have updated the tutorial to include steps for converting the 2012 Version. I will edit it again once 0040 is released with the automatic conversion.

Make sure you re running Bootleg from an account that has administrator privilege.

Close all open programs and disable any anti-virus software before running Bootleg.

Don t install FF7 to a system folder.

Don t set the TEMP folder to a system folder.

Don t place any mods or FF7 images inside the installation folder.

I got everything running pretty fine but for some strange reason the weapon mods are not appearing for Cloud. Unsure what the issue is as I m quite new to this however I haven t been able to find a fix.

UPDATE: Did a manual install of a one of the sword mods and got it to work. Still might be worth noting it didn t work with Bootleg though - b

Last Edit: 2012-07-23 :03 by musicskypirate

What Cloud battle model did you select.

What sword option did you select.

I ended up trying all of them but no luck until I did a manual install of Millenia s Custom Weapons.exe. Will be fiddling about with bootleg in a bit to see if I can get it to change.

It is most likely you cloud model you are using. 1 of them doesn t work well with maleenas weapons I believe.

For some reason, the battle.lgp mods are not installing on some systems.

I m trying to determine what is blocking these mods.

Don t use downloaded copies of FF7.

Bootleg only works on the authentic 3-CDROM version of Final Fantasy VII.

International version are now supported.

when i enabled the retranslation on menu overhaul on bootleg and uncheck the canon names and items, why is it still not the old names for items, magic and limit break. can anyone solve this problem. its really annoying as if how many times i reinstalled the bootleg and still nothing change.

maybe its possible you need to remove the files from your HD after uninstall before reinstalling. clean slate. give it a shot.

i already tried that a couple of times, nothing happened

I m having the issue of the retranslation not displaying despite it being enabled.  I found out about bootleg from a youtube video, and it shows Let s go newcomer Follow me. in the first textbox, yet I still get the original C mon newcomer Follow me. line.

Did you disable anit-virus software during the Bootleg install. ReTranslated is associated with MO.exe, and it tends to get picked up as a false positive which messes up the installation.

Nice tutorial, but sadly there are so many dead links for mods I need for this

Thanks for letting me know. I ll update them this weekend.

To skip movies, press Ctrl and S.

Thanks, I updated that note.

I fixed all the broken links. Let me know if you find anything else wrong

Great tutorial, but the boot loader does not work, and I can run the game directly from the. EXE though. It tries to run the game but ends up canceling and closing out. It doesn t error or anything, so there are really no leads for me to go on.

Helladen,

Did you install the game to a non-system folder such as C: Games Final Fantasy VII . .

Installing to a system folder like. Program Files or. Users causes problems.

The mods run fine for the most part, except the battle model for Cloud remained unchanged, but yes I installed it in C://Square Soft, Inc.//Final Fantasy 7.

Some systems prevent Bootleg from installing mods to battle.lgp.

Are you running any anti-virus software.

Does the account from which you run Bootleg have administrator privileges.

What version of Windows are you using.

Windows 8, it has administrative permissions, and my anti-virus would of popped up if it did anything - I use Avast. I ll look into it further, but all I use at the moment is Bootleg - UMI/other mods have not been added in yet, because I am still setting up my mod selection.

Hi,

Thanks for this thread its been really helpfull - and has opened my eyes to modding FFVII.

Bootleg is a great tool and has renewed my interest in this classic game - however I am having a problem acquiring all of the mods I need which appear in red in the mod manager.

Most of the Links on the red bars given in the program are dead - especially the mediafire ones I have found links in this thread which has helped but a lot of them are on filesharing sites - so a 100mb file can take hours due to throttle from the filehost.

Is there a complete mod collection available of all all supported mods as one download.

Perhaps as a torrent.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi

It worked. but after finishing everything, it crashes when I click play. Says that the FF7Config.exe encountered a problem and need to be closed.

Can you post your APP.txt from the FF7 installation folder.

There is only an APP.LOG file and is empty

Hi there.

First of all thank you for the fantastic job you are doing.

I have some doubts with all this installation I come from the old school of players from the SNES and playstation was the mos complicated thing I had. However when I saw the results you got with this bootleg, I though to try, the idea to play a better FFVII was so attractive.

I have no idea of computers so my doubts might seem quite stupid, but any help will be appreciated.

. I installed the 2012 version in C/games/finalfantasyVII

. I installed the krammer s converter in the same folder

. Now I have to mount the ISO I use daemoon tools for that and I rename a USB hard disk with the name FF7DISC1

Do I have to put the ISO inside the USB hard disk.

I know it might seem a stupid question, but I tried yesterday to install the bootleg and everything and I failed haha so I want to do everything good this time. My ignorance in computers is killing me haha

Thanks in advance keep with the good job

Hello again, I managed to make it work by buying the game on playstation store, but I can not find where to change the graphics of the Shinra and enemies, such as the Grand Scorpion, where after installing the mod.

So just a question here. I have already downloaded this into the default drive of C: Program Files x86 Square Enix FINAL FANTASY VII. So should I just move it to the location you suggest. I could always copy it into that directory and have both but I don t know if that would be a good idea or not.

It s not a good idea to copy. Instead, reinstall the game to C: Games FF7. I would put your Bootleg Downloaded Mods in C: Games FF7Mods and run BFE.exe from there.

Let me know how it goes.

You only need to do one or the other, not both.

Yep we are good. I uninstalled the original folder then re installed to make sure it would be clean. Took a minute to find the installer though. It downloads to an odd spot.

Yeah thank you, I had just also seen that in the tutorial in the beginnging. Thank you dude

kanelakis

Hi. yeah, I bought it downloaded it from the square website a few weeks ago after a few troubles they had I have it installed in 2 different computers.

I looked at that tutorial the EQ2Alyza s video in youtube, I ll start again from the begining, I am almost sure I did no mistake, but I will try,  thanks a lot.

Take care

 I only can say:

Holy sh t. It is working..

I just run again bootleg 0039 and put the language in english, and now I am playing the game.

And it looks just amazing.

Well, thanks for all the help all the amazing work you all doing.

Until now no mistakes with the game.

Cheers and take care everyone.

Ok so I finally got everything downloaded and running how I want. The only question I have know is what is the use for the bootlegger. I guess to be more specific I have downloaded mods before and all I had to do was manually put them in folders they needed to be in. So I guess the question is: is this just to have a gui as opposed to just manually dropping lines of codes into files.

Well, to me I think it does two very useful things.

1 Compiles and organizes your mods.

2 Automates the installation.

Hi

1st, good tutorial really it help me a lot first time I play FFVII tbh

so all install goes well till it stuck to Installing Vincent s Animation fix

and since two day i check all my mods and none is conrupted nothing weird,

so here is my question how can i bypass or fix that little error.

oh and I waited an hour at every try and still not passed it :p

My problem with videos seems to have been fixed. I think the issue was that I was leaving the bootloader open between games. Once I closed it out and re-opened it worked fine.

No, it s legit. Just bought it on Wednesday.

So a possible DEP issue then, with the menu. I ll uninstall it when I get home from the FNM tournament I m judging tonight.

Thanks for the input, guys. I certainly hope it is taken care of after that But it would be a shame to not have the nicer menus.

Last Edit: 2012-09-07 :26 by GrinningMonster

Let us know if it changes anything. We can try a few things suggested for DEP errors also.

Well shoot. I haven t changed any settings or touched files and now when I start launch the game from the bootloader it loads as normal but almost immediately after it goes fullscreen it crashes to desktop without error. Ideas.

Let us know if it changes anything. We can try a few things suggested for DEP errors also.

Doesn t look like anything changed. Still getting the same errors. :/

I m going to go ahead and disable DEP for FF7.exe and the trainers.

Last Edit: 2012-09-08 :47 by GrinningMonster

And now it works.

Caveats: Cloud has no sword, and Barret looks like he has robot parts on his face.

But it works.

Hopefully it is just the Menu Overhaul. There are solutions for other games with a DEP error / code C0005, so I was willing to give those a try.

I wasn t meaning to jump to a conclusion, but it had to be asked since the 2012 version was recently cracked.

the game has been cracked since about 2 days after it s release

how to set up the program so that the menu during the fight was original from FF7.

how to set up the program so that the menu during the fight was original from FF7.

When you re picking your Bootleg options, go to the Overhaul tab and keep FFX Battle Style and Felix Style Menu unchecked.

Dammerung

Hey everyone involved with the project. Just want to say AMAZING job and thanks.

I have been using the mod for the past day now and after a few headaches I m down to only 1 problem. Upon 1st install Cloud had no sword in battle Millenia Mike. So I just used Millenias custom sword installer to fix that. I thought the game was perfect until I got Aerith. Her weapons have no texture. It is not just the guard stick, I tested her out until the mythril staff. I ve reinstalled it many times and am giving up hope.

Here are my PC specs:

   Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit 6.1, Build 7601 Service Pack 1 7601.win7sp1_gdr.120503-2030

           Language: English Regional Setting: English

          Processor: Intel R Core TM i7-2670QM CPU 2.20GHz 8 CPUs, 2.2GHz

             Memory: 8192MB RAM

If you need any other specs, let me know how to grab them and I will post em ASAP.

Thanks again for everything.

EDIT: I m also experiencing flickering faces on Aerith and Barret. I read this was fixed in an older bootlegger.

EDIT 2: Just found the solutions in the other thread. Gonna try them out.

ERROR: could not open file camdat0.bin

ERROR: unhandled exception

Intel video cards are not supported.

It appears that a file is damaged or missing. data battle camdat0.bin

Is this file present in your game folder.

PitBrat I am using a NVidia Geforce GT540M.

I just checked data battle camdat0.bin the file not in there do i need to re-install the game to get the missing file camdat0.bin

Thanks

Last Edit: 2012-09-10 :53 by GeekSquad

If camdat0.bin is missing then you need to reinstall the game.

Your Geforce card must not be the default.

Run FF7Config.exe as administrator and configure the correct video card.

Windows 7 - Final Fantasy 7 2012 remake version

I ve completed all the steps and haven t had any problems that I m aware of, now I m getting a black screen when trying to play the game. Any clue what I did wrong or what I can do to fix this. Thanks.

Disable fullscreen to run the game in a window.

Disable texture compression.

Make sure that vsync isn t forced on in your video card driver.

Are you able to play the game after running the conversion and before installing Bootleg.

I think at this point I m having trouble mounting a disc for it to run on. I originally used the blank text document FF7DISC1 which allowed me to continue with the setup, but at this point the game won t load from FF7.exe without the bootleg either. I tried to dismount the text doc and re mount it and now it says it can t be mounted because it contains no data. I tried to run in windowed, removed compressed textures and my nvidia driver is not forcing vsync. Black screen when I press play, then it closes.

First of all: THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS. You are all marvellous.

Now, I am happy to announce that aside from a few things, this is all working perfectly for me

The things not working, or that I noticed:

While using No Change for field model it seems to load Cloud with sword bloodshot by default. :

- When I choose Millenia Mike weapon models, I get the all-grey Buster Sword Millenia, and not the one on the picture for Mike Millenia

Using Cloud with sword bloodshot field model:

- No matter which collection of weapons I choose, APZ Cloud doesn t have any weapon in his hands.

- If I choose Hi-res Classic Cloud battle model, no matter which collection of weapons I choose, he still starts with a Buster Sword with a purple handle the one seen in the High-res Field Model

It seems choosing Cloud with sword bloodshot field model screws with the weapons, but it seems I get the same field-model by selecting No Change

- If I skip the Eidos-movie, it automatically skips the Squaresoft-movie too not a biggie, and I don t really care, but I thought I might as well give a full report here

- If I skip the intro, there s no music until I completely finish a battle again, not a biggie

While installing, it said to ignore any error-log messages, but as a programmer I can t

This is what it gave me:

Error in blackbg2: Incorrect number of entries: 24/42

Error in blackbg3: Incorrect number of entries: 18/28

Error in blackbg4: Incorrect number of entries: 54/72

Error in blackbg7: Incorrect number of entries: 16/25

Error in blackbgk: Incorrect number of entries: 16/21

Error in elminn_1: Incorrect number of entries: 16/17

Error in startmap: Incorrect number of entries: 2/11

Summing up:

I got everything I wanted working by choosing No Change for field-model, except I really like the Buster Sword on the Mike Millenia picture, and I can t get it. I get the all-grey one from Millenia.

Slayersnext models work fine.

I m looking forward, d ck in hand, to the day the interpolation of animations is up and running so we can get everything up to 60fps. The project looks killer as it is. Please don t ever stop.

My system and install:

Windows 7 64bit

Laptop

Intel i3 M 380 Dualcore 2,53GHz

4GB ram

Geforce 525M

Brat Code: 0101070111010000101111110011100001

Preset: https://www.yousendit.com/download/TEhYQ1Zxa0QzeUwwZXNUQw

NOTE: This is my working preset. If you just change the field model to be Cloud with weapon bloodshot the weapons disappear, and I still have the same field model as No change, but the field model I m getting from both settings, is some version of the original battle-model, with a sword on his back with a purple handle.

Well, to me I think it does two very useful things.

This is what I was thinking. I used to really be into computers when I was young but I strayed away as I went down a different career path. As such I didn t so much as loose knowledge of computers as much as just didn t keep up with the technology. Trying to get back into them and learn more so that I can do things like my own modding on the side and play around with them. Having said all that thanks a ton for this program. It is extremely easy to use once I finally wrapped my brain around it.

I m running the downloaded version 2012 from SE website. I managed to install everything and the game looks awesome now and i love the difficulty mode. But, the FMV i think cut scenes or movies are gone. At the boot loader, i have specified the movie path to: C: Game FFVII FINAL FANTASY VII movies but nothing happens. I m not sure what i m doing wrong, i m going to do another installation to choose some other movie mods to see if it helps.

I got past my error by disabling all mods, now without any mods it hang at Preparing chocobo.lgs and since more than an hour now so

Hi, when will be released the new version of Bootleg.

The Bootleg 040.

P.S:You also know if there are any updated mod of the characters.

Last Edit: 2012-09-02 :41 by kanelakis

There is no date right now. Make sure to stick around and be ready to help test when it finally releases

P.S.S. I am keeping my eyes on this mod for the main characters: 13489.0

this mod has to be installed manually after running bootle 0039.

pitbrat does have a date in mind and hes doing what he can to stick to it.

from what i witnessed pitbrat seems pretty thorough and will include just about everything into bootleg

this mod has to be installed manually after running bootle 0039.

How to unpack.

I have a tutorial that type Bootleg.

Hi.

After a few days playing with no problems with the bootleg version, now the music sometimes runs down, if I restart the computer it usually works.

Any idea of what to do.

Thanks in advance

I have the 2012 re-release as well and I converted it to the older release and installed fine. I was blown away by the custom intro video as well as the quality of the regular videos and of course the field/battle/etc. picture quality. I, too, have the issue where I no longer see any movies. I also noticed that when I hit configure on bootloader it gives an unhandled though continues to perform and the box with the movie path blanks itself out each time as the user above said. I m going to back up my saves and re-install and see how it goes.

As for Bootleg I got the all mods torrents but a few things were missing.  A few I grabbed no problem but ff7_enhanced_movies_2.zip Enhanced FMVs part 2 of 2 and ff7_enhanced_movies_1.part1.rar Alternate for ff7_enhanced_movies_1.zip, Part 1 of 3 are yellow and both files have been removed from the hosting site. Are these related to the movie issue despite being shown in yellow.

Other than the minor hiccups the mods as well as the loader and installer are all amazing. It s very appreciated.

There have been reports of memory leaks, and since you have to restart to fix the issue, it could be related. The Bootleg team is only a handful of people, so it s very good that you report this stuff. The players are very much a part of polishing and helping develop the tool

Tarrachal

I have had that error with Bootloader as well. To be quite honest, it popped up a few times in all my installs I ve done probably close to 100 by now but I never paid attention. What I have done every time I want to test something is uninstall FF7Music, uninstall FF7, then delete the junk folder of leftover mods, reboot, install clean FF7, install mods through Bootleg, Configure Bootloader, Play FF7 --- all while keeping Anti-Virus disabled and never having anything FF7 install or MODS within a system folder e.g. Program Files x86 or Desktop. I will pass it along to PitBrat and see what he has to say.

As for those movies, they are made by Trojak however selecting his option in Bootleg does not seem to turn them red. In fact, none of the FMV options turn it red, so it may be 1 of 3 things.

1 A display bug within Bootleg.

2 A needed option from past Bootleg releases, but not anymore.

3 I m stupid and don t really know what I m talking about.

I will ask PitBrat. In the mean time, you can find download links here:ff7_enhanced_movies_1.part1.rar -. part3.rar        Trojak          Enhanced Movie Pack 1 in 3 Parts        Qhimm 01 02 03 M01 M02 M03 M01 M02 M03

ff7_enhanced_movies_2.zip                           Trojak          Another Movie Pack 2                    Qhimm FILE MIRROR

I think I may have someone make a new Torrent that includes all the missing yellow files. You never know what options people are choosing because the video I posted for converting doesn t go into details with the Bootleg install. The Bootleg install is where everyone is having issues and asking questions. Time to make a Tutorial video for installing Bootleg

Ya, I cleaned everything and re-installed. When I re-install with BFE.exe I no longer get a pop-up for selecting video or audio options though so maybe I didn t clean as well as I thought, Registry maybe. but it all still worked fine. I still get the unhandled exception when going into the loader and when attempting to write to the. cfg options but everything seems to be working again including videos. Thanks for the links, I m gonna get those installed and see if it s any different.

Update - Movies worked until I quit the game and re-entered it. Now if I try to start a new game I get no movie again. Not sure if other movies work but I don t think so since this is what happened last time. Also, when I start a new game and it skips the movie the screen is all black but Barrett s text pops up as normal something newcomer beside the train but the screen stays black.

What FMV option are you selecting in Bootleg.

Hi there, I just finished doing the install, running everything, etc. I have run into a wall when starting the game, though. If I try to get to the main menu from the loading/credits screen, it hangs, and then I get this error code from Windows when the game crashes:

It says it could not open your ff7input.cfg. Can you tell me if you see that file in your FF7 installation folder.

It happens with the file as well, as you can see.

Well we now know it s exclusively the BEX error, so let s work with that. What operating system are you running. 32/64-bit.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, Service Pack 1

Is your game legit. physical CD s or digital download

I have to ask this because I am seeing a lot of BFE errors associated with cracked games.

You got a broken mod installed which is triggering DEP. Don t know which. exe mods you got installed but my guess would be DLPB s menu overhaul so try uninstalling that.

Yes, I see many of the DEP reports associated with cracked games. I wanted to make sure this wasn t the case, else we d not be able to help.

I recall there being a DEP issue with the menu overhaul that wasn t fixed as far as I know in any of the new releases. I would not jump to the conclusion that its a pirated copy because of a DEP crash, plenty of other things could cause that.

Old versions of the menu overhaul did have a problem with DEP but i am pretty sure lusky fixed it in the lastest version.

Omg it s working now. thank you so much.

Okay, so now I m really stuck with that bug. I can t beat a made-up Hardcore boss even with Invincibility on.

Are you sure there s no way to turn this off or fix this. I don t want to fight any of these new bosses. Is there some way I can disable Mode Switching or whatever else might be causing this game breaking bug.

Reinstall everything again and don t select Mode Switching for your Difficulty Mode.

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried. That doesn t work, Mode switching can t be disabled that way.

Sure it can

1. Control Panel - Uninstall a Program - FF7Music

2. Control Panel - Uninstall a Program - Final Fantasy VII

3. Delete all the leftover mod files from the FF7 folder.

4. Clean your Registry: 14421.msg201774 msg201774

5. Install Final Fantasy VII.

6. Open Bootleg and select a different Difficulty Mode.

Oh, a complete uninstall. I really don t want to do that.. I was lucky enough to get the game working the first time, I don t want to undo that incase I can t get it working again.

Nothing prevents you from installing the game in a new folder, if you have the space.

Vgr, I have tried installing multiple copies to different locations and had some issues with mods not working correctly.Oh, a complete uninstall. I really don t want to do that.. I was lucky enough to get the game working the first time, I don t want to undo that incase I can t get it working again.

Your choice, but it s not going to magically work without doing it

Possible. I have like 5 different installations, but they re all for testing and debugging purposes. Bootleg does update the registry though.

Okay, so I went and did that, restalled everything. And it worked.

But now there s a new problem.

I can t continue playing on Disk 2.

Even after following the FAQ s instructions, which were unnecessary anyway, it wont work.

Unhhhhhhghhhhhhhh

Did you install AnyCD.dll in Multi, with Multi.dll being loaded.

AnyCD.dll in Multi. Isn t it FF7anyCD.dll, not AnyCD.dll. Are you saying that there s supposed to be a Multi folder I m putting AnyCD.dll/FF7anyCD.dll into. And how would I go about loading Multi.dll.

Uh, not sure I really understand that one. So here s what I ve done according to the FAQ:

    Download DLPB_Tools.zip

Done.

Extract the DLL_in folder and Mult.dll to your game folder.

Done, hopefully. I put those files here: F: /Games/Steam/FFVII/SteamApps/common/FINAL FANTASY VII/ I put them here

    Download FF7anyCDv2.dll.

Did this, although I already had it to begin with inside the DLL_in folder.

Place FF7anyCDv2.dll into the DLL_in folder.

Yep, did this. Here s whats in my DLL_in folder now: FF7anyCD.dll, FF7anyCDv2.dll, Hext.dll, Hext_Reademe.txt, Multi.dll

Maybe I have to remove FF7anyCD.dll.

    Add the line  load_library Multi.dll  to ff7_opengl.cfg.

Did this, and I didn t need to- it was already there. It says:

      Load Multiple DLLs

     load_library Multi.dll

My bad. FF7anyCD.dll and DLL_in folder.

Uh, not sure I really understand that one. So here s what I ve done according to the FAQ:Done.Done, hopefully. I put those files here: F: /Games/Steam/FFVII/SteamApps/common/FINAL FANTASY VII/ I put them here. Yep, did this. Here s whats in my DLL_in folder now: FF7anyCD.dll, FF7anyCDv2.dll, Hext.dll, Hext_Reademe.txt, Multi.dll

Maybe I have to remove FF7anyCD.dll.Did this, and I didn t need to- it was already there. It says:

You do not need two times the same DLL.

delete the old red and keep the new green.

Okay, I removed that old DLL file.

And now I ve noticed that the FAQ instructions have been updated. I still didn t need to follow them, the FF7anyCDv2.dll was already in the LOADR folder.

On thing that was changed in the FAQ: Place Mult.dll into the root folder.

Is this still right.: F: /Games/Steam/FFVII/SteamApps/common/FINAL FANTASY VII I put them here

Or does it go into the DLL_in folder.

On thing that was changed in the FAQ: Place Mult.dll into the root folder.

Is this still right.: F: /Games/Steam/FFVII/SteamApps/common/FINAL FANTASY VII I put them here YES

Or does it go into the DLL_in folder.NO

See also here

uh, okay. So whats this Kranmer thing and where do I get it. Yeah, actually- I don t understand any of these instructions. There are two different versions, one of DLPB 90 kb and one of Kranmer 4 kb.

DLPB s needs a subfolder DLL_in in which other DLLs are there.

Kranmers needs a subfolder LOADR in which other DLLs are there.

Copy missing DLLs best in both folders

So that DLPB thing I download, I need to create a DLL_in subfolder inside. Shouldn t I be extracting files from it and putting them in my FINAL FANTASY VII folder somewhere.

Other DLLs and other DLLs. Best in both folders What.

Actually DLPB and kranmer are both programmers, and their name is used to refer to who made the DLL. Use DLPB s.

It should have the DLL_in folder with it. Put every other DLL inside it.

Ah, okay.

Its still not working, though.

I forget what the problem was here but I d suggest just restarting with a fresh installation and make sure it s not to a system directory if it s to the C: and not a folder you added yourself just assume it s a system directory. Run Kompass63 s converter here - and I d suggest installing Aali s new driver right after, 8.1b. The converter installs the LOADR folder with the. dlls you need for the insert disk issues. Just unzip Aali s file and copy everything into the games install directory and run the. reg file. Then you can run the Reunion for any MO mods and stuff you want. Then just configure your setting in the ff7_opengl.cfg. All you need are the resolution settings, and change the texture cache to 1024 instead of 256. That s really all there is to it.

Oh wow, okay. Sounds confusing though, might be tough for me, but I ll give it a try.

Before I attempt that though, I should ask; can I use my game save files in the unmodded Steam version of the game. Just until I get into Disc 2, then reinstall the mod and continue from there.

Is that worth trying.

Or, maybe someone could take my save file at the end of disc 1 and play it through a little into disc 2, save it, and send it back to me.

Maybe I could try that if all else fails.

Also, thanks for putting up with me guys. I m sure this is a little frustrating for you aswell. But hopefully I m revealing some easier/simplier ways of assisting other newbies who might come along asking the same stupid questions that I have been.

There will be some more clarification I ll need from that last post later, too. Sorry.

EDIT:

Ohh, ohh. I got it to go past disc 1. I think I might ve forgotten to run Kompass63 s converter.

So I got into disc 2 and saved on the world map, the game was windowed and alot of mod stuff wasn t running. So I ve gone into Bootloader config and set up my old setttings, started up the game and

Please insert Disc 2.

And now I can t get it to run again, even after i run Kompass63 s converter. So I m going to reinstall everything again, see if that works.

bobothehippo,

start the bootloader please, click on the Configure button and then on the tab Plugins.

Is there selected External Library and including Multi.dll entered.

Ahh.

hmm, yes. err, well.

Thank-you.

Hey

I love this tifa bootleg mod alot

keep up the great work

Last Edit: 2014-02-21 :31 by Hitachis

Sorry guys but

I just bought, downloaded and installed a Steam version of final fantasy it s a 1.09 version

The problem occurs right at the start with the game converter. What happens is, the game converter says that it has aplayed the 1.02 patch but the game itself doesn t get updated. Because of that, the FF7 config won t work and, because of that, BFE and bootleg won t work either.

I ve searched the whole internet ok not whole but did a search and couldn t find a manual update to 1.02 version.

Am I missing something. Or Am I just dumb. the game is installed on a second partion of the disc so I don t think that s the problem. Plus, I mounted the blank ISO when running the game converter

Any help is apreciated

I recommend the latter variant, first uninstall everything and finally clean up the registry.

But you should know that FF7 REMOVE registry keys only remove the keys from the converted old game.

The Keys of the Steam release remain unaffected.

At one point, the converter outputs the found path and asks if he s right.

At this point you can enter the path manually.

Easy does it, if you copy the new path from the Windows Explorer as text and adding back in the converter window.

I did the latter, and am now going through and re-installing everything. I went ahead and uninstalled FF7 from steam and then ran the registry afterwards, which DID find 10 old registry keys that it deleted. Then, re-downloaded FF7 to my steam folder, etc.and now, I m going through again and re-downloading all of the required mods.

Now, when you say: The keys of the Steam release remain unaffected. Should that concern me at all.

Also, could you elaborate a little bit more on this: At one point, the converter outputs the found path and asks if he s right.

Easy does it, if you copy the new path from the Windows Explorer as text and adding back in the converter window. What are you saying I need to do here.

Thanks a bunch Kompass63

Now, when you say: The keys of the Steam release remain unaffected. Should that concern me at all.

If you re using the Steam version of the game, it manages its own keys pretty well, and will properly remove them when you uninstall the game.

If you re using the Steam version of the game, it manages its own keys pretty well, and will properly remove them when you uninstall the game.

Great. Thanks for letting me know

The converter uses the folder where the Steam version of FF7 was installed.

If you copy this folder to an other location and wishes to there will be manipulated, you have to specify the path to the copied folder.

The converter uses the folder where the Steam version of FF7 was installed.

Ahhh, I gotcha now. Yes, I did that this go around

I m actually just about to try this all over again I just completed all the mod DL s again

Fingers crossed everybody..

EDIT: Nevermind, just got it to work.randomly

Hello I am new to mods, i recently installed mods for FF7 and believe it or not this is my first time playing FF7. I am 5 hours into the game and the game has crashed two times on me so far, I will be posting my APP log. If someone could find out what the problem is with my mod that would be great. The mods I chose to install were the default, I also use the OST remastered music.

Could you please edit your post with the APP.LOG in code tags. It s a lot of scrolling otherwise. Thanks

Your problem is in the 3rd line. You re using Intel Integrated Graphics to play the game. If you have a dedicated GPU, then enabling it to use during gameplay is shown how to do in the FAQ section on page 1. If you don t have a dedicated GPU, then it states at the beginning of the tutorial that Integrated Graphics won t work, or at least poses many instability problems depending on how old of a CPU it is.

I hope that helps you better understand the crashing

Sorry about posting such a long message. I will go and look into the integrated graphics situation. If I can hopefully fix the problem a bit that be great. Thank you for your help. Maybe i ll end up playing FF7 on my bootcamp mac 27 screen which would hopefullynot crash.

Could i transfer my save file to a different computer. Or would re installing the mods and game make me start over.

You can transfer your save folder to any installation on any computer. Just copy/paste the save folder somewhere before uninstalling the game.

Thank you. I am now playing modded FF7 on the right computer without intel graphics.

cansomeone please tell me how i change the controls to my keyboard.

cansomeone please tell me how i change the controls to my keyboard.

Default controls are on the numpad. If you don t have one, then you need to check the box for Laptop Keyboard in the Game tab.

I m having an issue where when I start the game the screen size is all wrong. It s all zoomed in and placed up and to the right for some reason. I ve tried to mess around with the screen resolution and selecting and unselecting the Preserve Aspect option in the FF7 BootLoader OpenGL Configuration, but its always the same; the wrong size and placed up and to the right. Even in a smaller windowed mode.  Also, the safe settings locked up my computer completely and messed up my desktop.

My screen is 1920 x 1080.

But, when I hover my mouse cursor over the taskbar the little preview window shows the game centered and sized up correctly. Maybe it s from having two screens. Maybe my screen resolution settings are somehow wrong or messing it up. Maybe it s the toggle fullscreen option I selected at some point. I have no idea.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong here. Any fixes for this problem.

I m having a problem opening the game. Every time I try to open it using the bootloader, I only see a black screen with a lot of grey particles moving around, and there s no sound. Here s some information that might help
